Ucheldre news — Spring 2014

Happy New Year to you from all of us at Ucheldre and we hope you enjoyed a lovely Christmas. Now, hopefully, you are raring to get out and enjoy the busy programme we have lined up. Actually a good starter for your travels is the Crystals’ talk about being a language tourist! The coming year will see an interesting mix of live performances, workshops, exhibitions, films and live relays from Royal Opera, Met Opera and National Theatre, to which we have added the English National Opera (ENO).

Thanks to funding from the Film Agency For Wales we have a short season of high quality home-grown films as a pre-runner to launching a film festival in the autumn. We are also pushing ahead with plans to find funds to build an extension to accommodate amongst other things dance and artworkshop studios on the land we have acquired alongside the Centre. So if you know anyone with a couple of million to spare!

Our thanks to the Ucheldre Doctors’ Surgery who let us use their carpark as an overflow on busy nights - it won’t be locked until after the last car has left. Also, don’t forget that for a small annual subscription you can join the Friends with the benefits of reduced prices on some events, and the ability to reserve seats.

Finally, we thank you so very much for your continuing support; our new facilities have encouraged increased audiences and we look forward to seeing you, your friends and family at even more events, films, exhibitions, and activities in 2014.

Best wishes, Mike Gould, General Manager
