Diary WorkshopsThe Ucheldre Centre holds a wide-ranging series of workshops in many areas of the arts, for both adults and children. Some are sponsored by the Literary or Reading groups. The school holidays are especially popular times for children. Watch this space for details of future events.

Greg Delanty
A workshop and poetry reading by Greg Delanty who was originally from Cork, but is now living and working in Vermont, USA. He has received numerous awards for his poetry, and been widely anthologised. £3, £2 members

A chance to see the wide range of work exhibited in Ucheldres 19th
annual Art for All Competition. Many of the adult paintings are for
sale. Entry forms are available from the Centre, and must be
returned with the work between Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 July
2010, 10am5pm.
The competition will be judged by Andrew Smith. Prizewinners will be announced at this evenings opening, to which all are welcome. All welcome Exhibition runs until Monday 30 August Supported by Michael and Felicia Crystal
Afghanistan, Where God Only Comes to Weep by Siba Shakib is the book being talked about at the informal monthly get-together. All bookworms welcome; all you need is an appetite for reading! Admission £2
Join Props Theatre Company in a week of special workshops to learn about, and perform parts from three of the most popular musicals ever Bugsy Malone, Joseph, and Blood Brothers. With the help of choreographers, and an artistic director from Anvil Productions, participants will develop a two hour show, incorporating treatments from each musical, and other cabaret style songs. There will be rehearsals on Fri 30 and Sat 31 July. The show will be performed in the Ucheldre Centre on Saturdays 31 July at 7pm, and 21 August at 2pm. Primarily for 1016 year-olds, but over 16s more than welcome to join in.

Join Anwen and have fun making clay pots on a wheel (Wednesday), painting, drawing and using paper and fabric to create 2D and 3D artwork, based on the work of Mattise. £3 per session
A major new all-Wales exhibition, Following the Flame, is a celebration of Wales impressive involvement in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and forms an integral part of The Power of the Flame, Wales contribution to the Cultural Olympiad, in the build up to London 2012. Ucheldre is one of the principal partners in this important project. As a taster of things to come, this small launch exhibition will introduce the project to Ynys Môn, include a range of workshops for school children, invite people of all ages and abilities to get involved, and contribute creatively to the major exhibition which will be launched at Ucheldre in July 2011. Exhibition runs until Friday 12 November

Graham Jenkinson (Metalmorphosis and Scrap to the Future exhibitions) returns after a gap of 5 years to run another week of the very popular scrap metal sculpture workshops. Learn how to turn an odd assortment of scrap into a sculpture. MondayWednesday: Workshops for adults, and teenagers age 15+, to make scrap sculptures using grinder and welding equipment outside. MondayWednesday 10am4pm

Richard Douglas Pennant
Richard Douglas Pennant divides his time between Cyprus and his Bangor home. His interests include writing, drawing, and researching industrial history. This afternoon he reads a selection of his poetry, with musical interludes.

Beryl Baigent
Born in Llay, near Wrexham, Beryl Baigent has lived in Canada for nearly 50 years. Widely published, she is a poet, essayist, reviewer, and writer of articles specializing in health issues, Celtic myth and history, and womens spirituality. Vocal Workshops with Marian Bryfdir
and WNO Choral Singing Day
Improve the way you sing, and enjoy your singing even more! A series of four vocal workshops with renowned voice coach Marian Bryfdir, in a step-by-step course to encourage correct breathing and posture, eliminate muscular tension, free the voice, and produce a healthy and more beautiful sound through a series of exercises and songs. Workshops will be held in a relaxed, friendly, and supportive atmosphere, and are open to all levels of ability from beginners to more practised singers wishing to further develop their voices. The series also includes a Welsh National Opera (WNO) Choral Singing Day. The series will be followed in early 2011 by a new course of four opera workshops (15 Jan, 12 Feb, 12 Mar, and 3 Apr), leading to the opportunity to perform in Swansea City Operas production of Tosca on 16 April.
