Ucheldre news — April 2010

April begins with the island-wide Anglesey Arts Weeks, organised by the Anglesey Arts Forum, which forms the basis of an exhibition in Ucheldre Centre. Subsequent exhibitions include the North Wales Potters Playing with fire, Seascapes around Anglesey by Philippa Jacobs, students from the Fine Art Diploma at the University of Bangor, and an exhibition of quilts by Bethan Ash.

There’s also:

  • Swansea City Opera’s performance of Bizet’s Pearl Fishers on 17 April;
  • concerts by the Bangor University Chamber Choir on 16 May, the Welsh Baroque Orchestra on 22 May, and Iwan Llewelyn-Jones on 24 April and 19 June;
  • a three-part Classic Fun project with Ensemble Cymru, intended to awaken young people to the delights of classical music;
  • the Ucheldre Repertory Company in Shakespeare’s Richard III at the end of May;
  • films including Avatar, A Single Man, and Michael Hoffman’s account of Tolstoy’s last months in The Last Station.
