Ensemble Cymru
John Ireland's Sextet is both poetic and lyrical being music just predating the profound impact which the music of Stravinsky, Ravel and Debussy subsequently would have on him. 'Fachwen' by Dafydd Bullock draws its inspiration from the idyllic location near Llanberis with its stunning views of the Snowdonian mountain range. The performers then take us from the drama of Welsh mountains to the high drama of Weber's music. Weber's Quintet demonstrates its influences from the world of opera by virtue of the high degree of virtuosity and supremely expressive melodic lines. Mozart's Horn Quintet scored for 2 violins, 2 violas and cello has moments of Mozart at his best. The Programme: Sextet (1898) - John Ireland The Performers/Y Perfformwyr: Cyfansoddwyd chwechawd delynegol John Ireland ychydig cyn i gerddoriaeth Stravinsky, Ravel a Debussy gael dylanwad mawr arno.
